Porsche all-electric Boxster now under testing

Porsche has started testing its three all-electric Boxsters in Germany. The Porsche Boxster is powered by twin electric motors that produce a total output of 241 bhp, and a battery pack that produces 29 kWh of power.

The all-green Nissan Leaf is at the top of its game. Fifty-seven auto journalists from 23 European nations have voted the 100 percent electric vehicle as the 2011 European Car of the Year, beating 40 contenders to win Europe's most prestigious motoring prize. This is the first time that an electric vehicle has won this accolade in the 47-year history of the annual competition.

General Motors has announced the price and started taking orders for the 2011 Opel Ampera, the European version of the Chevrolet Volt. The ex-showroom price of the Opel Ampera is €42,900 inclusive of 19 percent VAT. That’s about $58,718 at current exchange rates.

Yamaha showcased the EC-03 concept moped at the EICMA motor show. The company claims that the EC-03 can be charged in about six hours and with a single charge it can travel about 25 km at peak power. The company claims about 43 km per charge under regular road use conditions. The price of the Yamaha EC-03 is €2,390.

Remember the Audi e-Tron which made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009? The latest news is that the company is planning to manufacture and sell the Audi e-Tron by 2012. Audi chairman Rupert Stadler told AutoCar magazine of UK that the e-Tron will see production in 2012. Oops. We mistyped it as 2010 - not 2012. Apologies. Production version in 2012. Sorry!
