Audi has finally reveled its new R8 GT. The new Audi R8 GT would be an limited-edition model and would be placed above the regular R8 supercar lineup.

The Audi R8 GT’s V10 engine produces a humongous 552bhp and 398lb ft of torque. This would make the R8 GT much faster and meaner than the normal spec R8 5.2 FSI V10. Audi plans to just manufacture 333 units of this R8 GT edition, so there would be only 333 lucky customers who would drive around in this mean sports car.

The New Audi R8 GT limited edition uses an all aluminium space frame, which weighs just 210kg , Audi has also fitted a thinner windscreen and a polycarbonate back window, a carbonfibre reinforced (CFRP) tailgate and other carbon fibre panels helping the R8 GT loose about 100kgs and making it weigh 1525kg in all.
The New R8 GT comes with an four-wheel drive and an special R-tronic single-clutch automated transmission.
Audi has provided a detailed breakdown of the weight savings:
- Thinner glass and polycarbonate rear screen, -9kg
- Thinner aluminium front hatch, -3kg
- Rear hatch made from CFRP –7kg
- Rear bumper made from CFRP –5kg
- Sideblades from CFRP –2kg
- Lighter battery –9kg
- Less engine insulation –3kg
- Lighter carpets –8kg
- Sports bucket seats –32kg
The Audi GT R8 has all-new 19 inch wheels with twin-spoke Y designs. The rear end of the R8 GT has built-in ventilation slats in the rear bumper, which house the bazooka exhausts making music for the ears.
Audi has reworked the chassis too. Now one can manually adjust the coil-over suspension electronically by 10mm making the GT more agile and aerodynamic. Cup-tyres are optional but carbon brakes are standard equipment.
A number of exclusive features are available as options for the R8 GT from Audi. Few of them are -
- Exterior options include two alternative wheels
- A body-color front splitter and a CFRP engine compartment lining
- Carbon elements on the doors, the tunnel, in the cockpit and on the instrument panel are available as interior options.
- A multifunction leather steering wheel, seat belts in red, orange or gray, floor mats with the “R8 GT” logo and CFRP door sill trims illuminated in red.
- Also as an option, seats with carbon frames can be ordered.The Alcantara seat covers are optionally available with an embroidered “R8 GT” logo on them.
Expected prices in Germany is €193,000 ($256,000 USD).
