Zee to launch Marathi movie channel Zee talkies

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) plans to launch one more regional channel. The proposed channel has been named Zee Talkies, a movie channel showing Marathi movies.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited already has a Marathi channel known as Zee Marathi.

Nitin Vaidya, who heads the regional channels for Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, will head Zee Talkies also. He said thatthough the plan to launch a new channel has been in the pipeline for a while, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has given permission to uplink the channel only now.

Zee Talkies is expected to be operational in a couple of months.

Explaining the motive behind starting yet another Marathi channel, Nitin Vaidya said Marathi movies have been doing very well in the last few months – sometimes they even beat the Hindi mass channels.
