Want to be the next Indian Idol? Here is how.
Indian Idol, the Indian version of the American Idol was brought to India by Seony Entertainment Television. The talent show went on to become one of the most-watched popular soaps on TV and Abhijeet Sawant became the first Indian Idol. The Mumbai boy from a middle class background went on to achive unprecedented fame, fortune and adulation through this talent show, which captured the imagination of lakhs of Indians. Now, it is time for the next round..
1. This September, young aspirants across India can register themselves by dialing 646 from their Airtel phone or register via their landlines. The ‘Indian Idol’ crew will travel to 13 cities including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Karnal, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata, inviting registrations and those eligible will receive registration numbers for the auditions.
2. In October 2005, auditions will be held in Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata where the show producers will first shortlist contestants. These contestants will then be auditioned by the panel of judges who will undertake the challenging task of choosing 150 ‘ Indian Idol’ aspirants from the thousands who may have registered.
3. In November 2005, the judges will further trim them down to 28 contestants. Hereon, the nation aids the process by voting for the 12 finalists. The entire nation will follow the journey of these 12 finalists and finally vote and choose their second ‘Indian Idol’.
The winning team of Indian Idol’s popular judges - Farah Khan, Sonu Nigam and Anu Malik, who made waves with their valuable insights, constructive criticism, mutual disagreements and funny anecdotes, will once again create magic on screen together. While the judges, take on the challenging task of filtering aspirants to the deserving few, the popular hosts of ‘Indian Idol’ - actor Aman Verma and Mini Mathur will be presenters and also close confidantes of the contestants.
