The 49th Grammy was held on
February 11, 2007 at the Staples
Center in Los Angeles, California. The
Dixie Chicks bagged all of their 5
categories for which they were
nominated, which included album of the
year.[Taking the long way].The
all-female country music threesome are
the second highest-selling female
group, first being Destiny's Child.
The Dixie Chicks got into controversy
when the lead vocalist Natalie Maines,
criticized the President of the United
States George W. Bush on the eve of
the 2003 invasion of Iraq which in
turn cost them many people to boycott
their performances.
At the 49th Grammy in 2007, they
outshined fellow musicians like Pop
sensations: James Blunt, Justin
Timberlake & John Mayer and hard
rocking Red Hot Chili Peppers to win
all five categories which they were

2007: Song of the Year - "Not Ready to
Make Nice"
2007: Record of the Year - "Not Ready

2007: Best Country Album - Taking the

2007: Best Country Performance by a

to Make Nice"
Mary J. Blige came out 2nd best with 3
Grammy's for Best Pop Collaboration
With Vocals ,Best Female R&B Vocal
Performance and Best R&B Song - Be
without you.
Carrie Underwood, who won the fourth
season of American Idol, won herself 3
awards which included Best New Artist,
Best Country Song & Best Female
Country Vocal Performance for "Jesus,
Take the Wheel".
Christina Aguilera won the Best Female
Pop Vocal Performance for Ain't No
Other Man just scraping through likes
of KT Tunstall, Sheryl Crow & Pink.
The Best Male Pop Vocal Performance &
Best Pop Vocal Album
went to Waiting On The World To Change
by John Mayer with healthy competition
with the likes of James Blunt,John
Legend & Daniel Powter.
Madonna the queen of Pop & took home
one out of the three nomination which
included Best Electronic/Dance Album
.On the other hand Justin Timberlake
won 2 Grammies for Best Dance
Recording & Best Rap/Sung
Collaboration.
The highlight of the show was the
reunion of the band Police after 23
years of formation. The 49th Grammy
started with a band with The Police
performing their hit single "Roxanne"
as sting screamed out to the crowd
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are the
Police and we're back,".
All in all the 49th Grammy Awards
belonged to the chicks from Dallas,
Texas "The Dixie Chicks”.
