| CNN-IBN - listen to your own reporters |
... I don't remember the name of the show, but Rajdeep Sardesai and Vidya Shankar Aiyar were the anchors. For the first minute, when Vidya Shankar Aiyar spoke about the Indian engineer Suryanarayanan who was killed by the Taliban, Rajdeep had the expression of a gruff tiger on his face. Rajdeep and 'tiger' shouldn't really go in the same sentence, but it looked like that to me, what to do? Anyway, if that is your outraged expression I saw, I can understand - who am I to tell people to change their expression! :-)
Anyway, what followed was interesting. The reporter from Hyderabad, in a quick para, explained to Vidya Shankar Aiyar about the atmosphere in Hyderabad, about the engineer's wife's attempted suicide, and the 'second wife' who popped up and that she was sitting on the road outside Suryanarayanan's house. Clear and concise she was.
And Vidya Shankar Aiyar asks her, "We are hearing some reports of a woman who claims to be his second wife, do you have any information on that?"
What!
That's what the reporter has just told you, man. Listen to her.
The one man who could beat Vidya at this has reformed, and become a lot more 'listening' than before. That's NDTV's Srinivasan Jain. He used to grate on my nerves for a long time, for his constant interruptions. He has since improved, and though still a trifle self conscious, has learnt to listen better. |
