| Aaj Tak gives a lesson on mangal dosha |
So maybe Abhishek Bachchan's rumored marriage to the ice maiden is not going to happen. The reason, according to this CNN IBN report, is the Ash is a manglik - and CNN IBN says that "And quite understandably, the Bachchans do not want the “dark shadow of Mars” on their son’s Bollywood career which has just taken off to a flier."
Their funny business, actually.
But around 8 PM today, Aaj Tak decides to tell you all about Abhishek, Aishwarya, what mangal dosha really means - and much of the more than 15 minute programme was dedicated to an interview an astrologer who explains it in detail. We had a narrative, interspersed with bullet-points and slides on how dangerous it can be, what are the potential threats and problems, how you can overcome them etc etc. And never once a token disclaimer that this is a belief which has no scientific basis, no one to say that all this is rubbish. The entire manglik idea is handed out as if it is nothing but the truth.
Considering that Aaj tak caters to a North Indian audience that might be largely superstitious, this one programme has probably done immense damage to the work of those who try to eradicate them.
I wish someone would file a PIL or something. |
