SRK says he would lose money from IPL

According to Kolkata Knight Riders owner, Shah Rukh Khan, all theĀ  franchisees in the Indian Premier League (iPL) would not gain any money from the first year of T-20 cricket series.

King Khan is sure that the T20 tournament will be a success in the coming years. According to Khan, this is the first time and as a business venture it takes some time for its development.

Regarding the reports that the franchisees felt cheated by the IPL, SRK, says, “All of us know that there are going to be losses to a certain level and if God forbid the losses are huge, then I am sure the IPL will look into it.”

Shah Rukh Khan has already spend Rs.300 crore for owning the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. SRK is worried about the the repeated demands for money from the stadium authorities in the form of entertainment tax, municipality tax and the cost of providing security cover through the police forces.

Shah Rukh Khan said that if he would get 10 per cent from ticket price, then it is enough for him. SRK also added that he is not going to gain money fom the tournament.

The franchises were not informed about the restrictions on media and this is a western concept which would soon come to India, said Shah Rukh Khan. “The content or the bi-product of the league matches in the west are a value addition and the e-media buys it for exclusivity,” SRK said .
