Wasim Akram says IPL and Twenty20 point to dangerous trend in cricket
Pak cricket legend Wasim AKram has joined the growing chorus of criticism against the Indian Premier League.
Wasim Akram says IPL can distract cricketers as players are now even willing to give up their international careers.
Wasim Akram says the ICC should have foreseen this danger ten years back. Akram also said the IPL will put the future of ODIs in doubt saying overs twenty to 40 in ODIs have become boring for spectators.
Not that Alkram is grudging the money being paid to crickets for playing in the IPL. He said that they were not being paid as well as they should have been, and that is the reason for many players expressing theri willingness to leave theri international careers for playing in IPL.
Akram said that as interest in IPL and Twenty increases, ICC would have to struggle to find ways to keep viewers’ engaged through the middle overs.
