Mumbai IPL’s Harbhajan Singh under ICC scanner for comments on Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist
Mumbai IPL’s Harbhajan Singh is in trouble again for his reported comments against Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist.
Harbhajan Singh had reportedly called Matthew Hayden a liar and said Adam Gilchrist was no saint. However, Harbhajan ha already denied these remarks.
An Australian media report said match referees Mike Procter and Jeff Crowe have asked the BCCI to ask Harbhajan Singh to tone down his rhetoric.
The ICC is also reportedly investigating the incident and is in touch with the boards of two countries.
If charged by ICC, Harbhajan Singh may face even a suspension. But the action is unlikely as Matthew Hayden had escaped punishment despite calling Harbhajan Singh an ‘obnoxious little weed’. So Cricket Australia has no moral right to demand action against Harbhajan Singh.
Australian commentator Peter Roebuck had demanded that Matthew Hadyden be sacked for his comments.
The BCCI on its part said Harbhajan Singh ahs been told no to speak to the media on the controversial Australian tour.
Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland had asked the Indian board to deal with Harbhajan Singh appropriately.
Will this slug-fest ever end? Unlikely.
