IPL storm hits English cricket
English cricket is in turmoil following the massive hype generated by the IPL.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)has gone all out in a bid to prevent English players from being lured to play in IPL.
ECB chairman Giles Ckarke himself went to New Zealand to havea chat with players after reports that IPL organisers are in touch with many key English players.
The ECB boss is also believed to have hinted to players about a financial package to them for resisting the IPL lure.
Many English players have county contracts which prevent them from joining the lucrative IPL. The English season also begins in April, clashing with the IPL schedule.
Meanwhile, media reports said former England batsman Alistair Brown of Surrey has declined to join IPL.
IPL’s Mumbai team had contacted Alistair Brown through Harbhajan Singh.
