Legendary Australian leg spinner Shane Warne will don another role for the Jaipur IPL team apart from that of the skipper – Warne would also coach the team.

That means he would be in complete charge of the team which include South African captain Graeme Smith, Pak cricketers Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal.

While Shane Warne got $477,370 in the Indian Premier League auction held in Hilton Hotel in Mumbai, Graeme Smith was bagged by Jaipur for $503,890, and Younis Khan went for $238,735. Kamran Akmal was bagged for $159,160.

Australian media baron Rupert Murdoch’s son Lachlan Murdoch is one of the promoters of the Jaipur IPL team. Shane Warne has a glorious record in one-day cricket with 293 scalps in 194 matches.

The 38-year-old Shane Warne has taken 708 wickets in 145 tests. Who better equipped to be a coach and captain than Shane Warne. Warne’s former coach John Buchanan is also in the IPL coaching role, though for Kolkata IPL team promoted by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

But the buss is that since the Jaipur team did not spend the minimum amount requied in the auction, they came up with this novel idea of giving Shane Warne the dual role to avoid penalties.
