EX-Aussie coach John Buchanan wants ICC to handle IPL with care
John Buchanan, former Australian coach and presently recruited to coach Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata team, seems to adopt a cautious approach when it comes to IPL.
The Aussie, who will have to now preside over a team which will have former rival captain Sourav Ganguly as its icon player, says the International Cricket Council should strike an equilibrium between BCCI’s money clout and ensuring that the riches reach all nations.
That, John Buchanan thinks, is the way forward if the game of willow is to make substantial progress.
Buchanan also has put in a word for the Indian Cricket League. The Aussie says the ICC should recognise the breakaway Indian Cricket League promoted by ZEE’s Subhash Chandra. That would not be pleasing for the BCCI bosses. Recently Aussie players Kasprowicz and Jason Gillespie signed up with ICL.
Buchanan will also have Aussie skipper Ponting, lanky Indian speedster Ishant Sharma and Pak pace spearhead Shoiab Akhtar in his Kolkata team.
