15 July, 2005: Genepharm Australasia has finalised agreements with three pharmacy wholesalers to distribute generics to pharmacies across Australia, the company said in an official release.
The agreement has been made with Australian Pharmaceutical Industries, Mayne Group and Sigma, and will lead to sales and distribution arrangements with every pharmacy in the country. With the conclusion of these agreements and earlier agreements with hospital distributors, it now has access to the whole Australian retail and hospital markets for its product supplies. The company expects to begin distributing generic pharmaceuticals to the retail pharmacy and hospital markets in early 2006.
Genepharm plans to release around 18 new generic pharmaceuticals to the market in 2006, including versions of the top five selling generics which had a combined market of nearly A$900 million (US$665.6 million) in 2004, the release said.
Genepharm Australasia is a specialist generic pharmaceutical company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and it develops, markets and distributes a range of generic pharmaceuticals, including some of the newest and highest value Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) pharmaceuticals.
