8 September, 2005: Alpharma has launched generic halobetasol to treat skin inflammations in US.
Halobetasol propionate ointment ,0.05% will be available in 15 gram and 50 gram tubes, an Alpharma release said.
The ointment is the AB-rated generic equivalent of Westwood Squibb's Ultravate t, a steroid based product indicated for relief of itching and inflammation caused by a variety of skin disorders. Ultravate ointment sales in 2004 were approximately $28 million.
