BS Motoring calls it the larger than life SUV. The Endeavour, is indeed larger-than life. Just ask Govinda! In fact, it is just the opposite of everyone's favourite SUV (which is really not an SUV) - the Honda CR-V.
Ford Endeavour basic facts:
Design
The Ford Endeavour sports a 'bright' front-end. The SUV comes with with multi-reflector headlamps, clear lamps, large chrome grille, and bumper styling.
The car has been designed in accordance with the unique Ford architecture - the Ford DNA blueprint. From the front, this is an unmistakeable Ford. Of course, not many in India would know that.
Viewed in profile, the Endeavour looks hefty with its rather tall stance, and substantial proportions below the mouldings. The steps, mud flaps and wheel mouldings offer a comprehensive theme of ruggedness along the length of the vehicle and underline the impression that this is a well equipped, off road vehicle.
Powertrain
The Ford Endeavour is available in both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drives and is powered by the 2.5L inter-cooled turbo diesel engine that delivers a "fun to drive" experience because of its added power and torque from the turbocharger. The CR-V is definitely mroe powerful, but it comes in petrol only, and only in an automatic - and now a manual - version.
Interior Design
Endeavour's interior gives an impression of spaciousness and luxury. It seats 7 passengers comfortably with easy in-and-out access to the third row seats. Its unique dual control air-conditioning system comes with two additional sets of vents for the rear seat to ensure comfort for the centre and rear seat passengers. The interior incorporates many small "surprise and delight" features such as individual cup-holders, creative stowage room and front seat back map pockets equipped with smaller cell-phone pockets. Overall, the effect is one of thoughtful craftsmanship.
Safety Features
Endeavour is designed to meet all applicable local
regulations in India, as well as additional Ford safety guidelines. Features include dual airbags for driver and passenger, individual seat belts in all seating positions, 4-wheel anti-lock brake system, a high visibility "command" driving position, side-door intrusion beams, collapsible steering column, child-proof rear door locks, and fuel tank shields, among others.
