Blue1 is planning to launch flights between Poland and Scandinavia, with the first flight slated to takeoff on Sunday.
"The commencement of Poland flights is due to a substantial increase in demand from our passengers who travel between the two destinations," Blue1 Deputy CEO for communication Tom Christides said. The Finland-based traditional airline said the flights would be operated between Helsinki and Warsaw.
Blue1 is also planning of flights to Athens, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, London, Dublin, Zurich and Nice. In 2005, the airline had ferried 1.46 million passengers, a 28 per cent increase from that a year ago.
Blue1 which is a subsidiary of SAS, is going to offer flights from Helsinki to Warsaw. The first plane will leave Warsaw on Sunday. Air Baltic, another SAS subsidiary is also banking its hopes on the Polish market. The airline has relaunched flights between Warsaw and Vilnius, and Warsaw and Riga in 2004.
