Virgin Atlantic has entered into a code share agreement with Air China so that its travellers can have the codeshare connections between the services of the two airlines.
The agreement will come into effect from July 1, 2006. Through this agreement, Virgin Atlantic passengers can purchase flight tickets between London Heathrow and Beijing, complimenting Virgin Atlantic's daily flights into Shanghai. For Virgin Atlantic's daily flights between London Heathrow and Shanghai, Air China will have the code sharing services. Tickets for the same can be bought from 15th April onwards.
Both airlines have also started a package other than the codeshare agreement, where Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club members will earn miles when they travel with Air China. It comes under the Frequent Flyer
program. The same format is applicable for Air China's Companions frequent flyers too.
"We are delighted to announce this new codeshare agreement with Air China. It will offer passengers greater flexibility for their travel to and from China, together with fantastic value and excellent standards of service throughout their journey," said Willy Boulter, Commercial Director, Virgin Atlantic.
Virgin Atlantic operates between London Heathrow and Shanghai Pudong Airport now. The VS250 flight departs from Heahrow at 14.30 and reaches Shanghai at 08.45 the next day. The return flight VS251 will
depart from Shanghai at 10.55 and arrive Heathrow at 16.15 the next day.
"We are so pleased to cooperate with Virgin Atlantic Airways. I believe that through our joint efforts, we will provide more choices and high quality services to the travelling public," Cai Jianjiang, Executive Vice President, Air China said.
