India-US flights from Qatar Air
4 June, 2007:
Qatar Airways will start a new
premium class service connecting seven
major Indian cities with New York and
Washington in June-July 2007.
The service would use Doha as a
mid-point hub and provide a host of
high-end facilities, said a report.
The airline currently operates daily
flights from six cities in India. Of
these, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kochi
will be connected to Washington via
Doha from July 19, said the report.
Though the airline is yet to announce
its fares to the US, it is likely that
those for the premium class may start
from Rs 180,000, while that for the
economy class may start at Rs 45,000,
exclusive of taxes.
Mumbai and Chennai will be connected
to New York via Doha from June 26,
2007 onwards. From Doha the airline
will have a technical stop at Geneva
which is the airline's second
destination in Switzerland after
Zurich. Meanwhile, the airline has
ruled out plans to connect
Thiruvananthapuram, their sixth
destination in the country, with any
US city. However, it is likely that
Ahmedabad and Nagpur might be
connected with US cities later on in
the year.
