Budget airline Oasis Hong Kong Airlines has rescheduled its launch, citing a delay in securing aircraft of lease, and the airline now expects to start flights by August or September. Oasis Hong Kong was to launch its services, with the first flight slated to fly between Hong Kong and London's Gatwick Airport, in June.
"We had to delay the launch of flights as we are trying to secure aircraft and are in the final laps of the negotiations. The aircraft market is really tight at the moment," Oasis Hong Kong Airlines Chief Executive Officer Stephen Miller said.
This is the second time Oasis Hong Kong is postponing its launch. The airline, which is trying to secure used aircraft on lease, is expected to launch its flights between by August or September this year. It is also planning to launch the flights between European destinations like Milan, Berlin and Cologne. Oasis has also received rights to fly to Oakland, California and Chicago in US.
Last year, Oasis Hong Kong had signed an agreement last year to lease two ex-United Airlines Boeing 747-400 aircraft and begin flights by the end of 2005. However, approvals did not come in time for the flight launch.
