Oasis bags world's leading new airline award

After having bagged a slew of laurels, Hong Kong’s Oasis Hong Kong Airlines (Oasis) has won the the award for the world's leading new airline at the World Travel Awards. The award is being described as the travel industry's equivalent to the Oscars.

To win the World's Leading New Airline award, Oasis beat other new airlines AirAsia X, Silverjet, Virgin America, and Viva Aerobus.

Oasis had won the award for being leading budget airline in the Asia category. According to a report, Oasis has been picked as the global winner of the 14th World Travel Awards. The airline was voted as the best by a total of 167,000 travel professionals worldwide and this included more than 110,000 travel agents.

The report pointed out that the World Travel Awards are the most comprehensive and prestigious awards program in the global travel industry. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines was launched in October 2006 and it offers passengers low fares and high standards of comfort and service on routes serving Vancouver, Hong Kong, and London.

Oasis had won the award for the New Airline of the Year in November 2007, at the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation Awards (CAPA) held in Singapore. CAPA is the region's leading provider of independent aviation market intelligence and analysis. The airline also was chosen for awards such as Best New Service and Best Business Class Carrier at the 2007 World Low Cost Airline Congress Awards, held in London.

According to a report, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines has won the award for its extensive contribution to the low fare, long-haul model, and in particular to the rapidly evolving aviation scene in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
