New Barcelona flights from Continental Airlines

May 24, 2006

Continental Airlines will soon start its Barcelona flights from its New York hub at Newark Liberty International airport. Continental Airlines is going through a trans-atlantic service expansion. The new flight is also a part of this expansion.

Next week, Continental Airlines will inaugurate its flights to Copenhagen, Denmark. Once that route is in place, Continental Airlines will have a total of 28 transatlantic destinations.

Jim Summerford, Continental's vice president Europe, Middle East & India, said, "After 14 years of successful operations in the capital city of Madrid, we felt the timing was right to add Barcelona to our expanding international network."

Continental Airlines will operate a Boeing 757-200 plane for this new flight route. The total seating capacity will be 172 and it will have 16 Business First passengers and 156 economy class passengers.

The Continental flight to Barcelona CO120 will depart from New York Newark Liberty International airport at 8.15pm and arrive at Barcelona, Spain at 9.15am the next day.

During winter, when the demand will be low, Continental Airlines will operate five flights per week on the route. This schedule will be reverted back to the daily service format in Spring 2007.

Continental Airlines has been awarded the No.1 most Admired Global Airline by the Fortune magazine for the third consecutive year.
