Emirates new direct flight to
Ahmedabad, Mumbai launched
31 October, 2007:
Mumbai and Ahmedabad have got an
additional Emirates flight starting
October 29, 2007. Emirates has
launched an additional flight to
Mumbai and a direct flight to
Ahmedabad from Dubai.
Emirates offers a second morning
flight to Mumbai, taking the weekly
total to 28 flights. Emirates flight
EK 506, an Airbus A330 will take off
from Dubai at 09:30 hours every day
and arrive in Mumbai at 13:45 hours,
while the return flight EK 507 will
take off from Mumbai at 15:15 hours
and arrive in Dubai at 17:00 hours.
Earlier this year, Emirates enhanced
its existing 19-flights-per-week
Mumbai service with the launch of two
additional frequencies, taking the
weekly service to 21 flights per week.
Emirates currently operates 92 flights
per week to eight Indian cities, such
as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad,
Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata,
and Bangalore.
The growth of Emirates’ services to
and from Mumbai has been market-driven
and the additions made have always
been matched by more passenger
appreciation. The fourth daily flight
is expected to improve connectivity
between the two commercial hubs, and
provide travelers with more flexible
options.
Recently, Emirates had also offered
special fares to amnesty seekers,
including Indians, who wish to leave
the UAE under the government's
three-month-long amnesty scheme.
Amnesty seekers were given the option
of availing discounts ranging from 22
to 55 per cent on tickets to certain
destinations. The UAE government had
in June 2007 set a deadline of three
months for all illegal foreign workers
to either get legal status to stay in
the country or face deportation.
Emirates had offered special fares to
13 destinations for expatriates who
wish to leave the Arab nation under
the government's amnesty program. The
special fares can be 22 to 55 percent
cheaper than the normal fares.
