Goa and Hyderabad
BY OUR AVIATION CORRESPONDENT
January 26, 2006
Come winter 2007, and the
Kolkata-Goa airline sector would get
all spiced up. Budget carrier SpiceJet
has unveiled plans to introduce
non-stop flights between Kolkata and
Goa this year.
The airline launched its Kolkata
-Hyderabad daily flight and the first
service will take off on February 4.
The airline also plans to fly to
Jaipur and Ahmedabad from Kolkata in a
few months time, said reports.
With a non-stop flight not to take
more than two-and-a- half-hours to
reach Goa from Kolkata, a direct
flight on the sector comes as a
welcome step as at present no airline
offers direct services between the two
cities. The flight will leave Calcutta
at noon and reach Goa at 2.30 pm.
SpiceJet's Calcutta-Hyderabad flight
will leave Kolkata at 2.15 pm and
reach the destination at 4.15 pm. The
lowest fare on the route for a round
trip is Rs 1,800, excluding taxes. The
airline will operate Boeing 737-800
series aircraft that can seat 189
passengers, all in the economy class,
said a report quoting SpiceJet top
officials.
