Jet Airways' Chennai-Toronto
flight launched
1 November, 2007:
India’s airline major Jet Airways
has introduced services between
Chennai and Toronto, via its Brussels
hub.
The services would be operated using
the brand new Airbus 330-200 aircraft,
which will carry its passengers in a
two-class layout and would offer
luxury, privacy and comfort in the
air. The Airbus 330-200 aircraft has
been especially configured for
international operations with 30 seats
in Premiere Class and 190 seats in the
Economy Class.
Significantly, this would also be Jet
Airways’ first wide-body operation
from the southern region to North
America. Jet has also announced a
special inaugural economy return fare
of Rs 36,000 plus taxes, while
premiere class return fares would
start from Rs 1,57,500 plus taxes.
Jet Airways will offer four times a
week service, that is on Mondays,
Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from
October 28 until December 4, 2007. The
airline plans to synchronize its
flights at its Brussels hub to provide
passengers transfer between Delhi,
Mumbai and Chennai to the North
American cities of New York (JFK),
Toronto, and New York (Newark.) The
Chennai-Toronto flight will take of
from the Chennai International Airport
at 1.15 am and reach Brussels at 7.15
am. It will then leave Brussels at
9.15 am to land at Toronto at 12.55
pm.
On the return direction, the
Toronto-Chennai flight will depart
Toronto at 8.30 pm and arrive at
Brussels at 9.30 am. It will then
leave from Brussels at 11.30 am and
arrive at Chennai International
Airport at 1.40 pm. Post November 4,
2007, the timings will change due to
daylight saving time in US.
Features of the new aircraft include
new Premiere lie-flat beds that has a
73-inches seat that electronically
converts to an 180-degree flat bed
with lumbar support and massage
systems. On the menu are the finest of
French wines, champagnes and single
malt whiskies. Meanwhile, the economy
seat has a seat pitch of 32 inches and
is designed applying advanced
ergonomics.
Besides, the aircraft has an inflight
Panasonic eX2 Entertainment system,
which offers passengers over 200 hours
of Hollywood and Bollywood movies,
regional films, television, and short
programming and audio CDs.
