Jet Airways set for Brussels hub
BY OUR AVIATION CORRESPONDENT
April 24, 2007: Jet Air is
flying high and is currently setting
its sights over the European skies.
The country’s largest private airline
company is set to announce the opening
of its European hub at Brussels’s
airport on May 2.
On this date, the Jet top brass will
enter into a contract with Brussels
Airlines and Brussels Airport. The
event is likely to see the new
additions to the Jet Airway’s fleet, a
Boeing 777, and a brand new Airbus
330, make a stop at Brussels Airport
in celebration.
The airline major plans to begin a
daily flight to Newark, in New Jersey,
with a stopover in Brussels, by early
August. This apart, a daily flight to
Toronto in Canada with a stopover in
Brussels is also expected by the
year-end. Significantly, this service
will provide the first direct air link
between Belgium and India. Travellers
to India from Belgium currently are
forced to take connecting flights from
other cities, such as Paris, Frankfurt
and Amsterdam, said a report.
