Jet Airways to sponsor Lord of the Rings Cast Album

India’s largest private airline Jet Airways has said that it would sponsor The Lord of the Rings London original cast album that is currently being recorded for a January 21, 2008 release. The sponsorship amount would be Rs 15 million. The Lord of the Rings, which already has bookings up till September 27, 2008, had opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June 2007.

The Jet sponsorship would mean that the CDs of the album will be made available in the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from December 2007 and on general release from January 21, 2008. Jet Airways passengers will be among the first to hear the new recording onboard Jet Airway flights from January 2008. Jet Airways has said that it has found a synergy between itself and The Lord of the Rings, which takes theatre goers on a musical, mysterious and adventurous journey.

According to a report, the album will have the voices of the 52-strong cast of The Lord of the Rings. The production has book and lyrics by Shaun McKenna and Matthew Warchus and music by India's own composer A R Rahman and Finland's celebrated Varttina with Christopher Nightingale. The
show is directed by Matthew Warchus, with choreography by Peter Darling and set and costume design by Rob Howell.

Jet Airways operates more than 350 flights daily on the domestic circuit as well as oversees, including New York, Toronto, Brussels, London, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Kathmandu.
