Dhaka-based private airline GMG Airlines is to commence four flights a week to Delhi and to Sylhet-Guwahati daily flights in the next quarter. GMG Airlines is also mulling of launching thrice-a-day service between Dhaka and Calcutta and is planning to seek regulatory approvals.
The new flights are being planned banking on the new policy among South Asian nations that allow a greater freedom over each other's skies, according to GMG Airlines chairman Shahab Sattar.
The Dhaka-Delhi flights are expected to commence operations within the next quarter and the airline intends to service the route with a Boeing 737-300.
"We are seeking the removal of the cap on the number of flights between Dhaka and Calcutta. If that takes place, then we intend to fly thrice daily between Dhaka and Calcutta," he added.
GMG Airlines is also planning to fly to other Indian destinations, however, this would depend on India's civil aviation regulations.
