Qatar Airways has launched a daily flight between Doha and Singapore, starting May 2, which is timed in a way to provide connections to other destinations on its route. The new Singapore-Doha flight timings will enable the airline to offer daily flights to the Middle East and improve its existing flights to London, Paris, Manchester, Frankfurt, Athens, Rome, Madrid, Nairobi, Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Cairo.
"Since we started our Singapore flights just over two years ago, we have enjoyed phenomenal success on the route," Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar al-Baker told reporters in Singapore.
The Singapore flight route will be operated by an A330 in a two-class configuration, with up to 247 seats in economy and 24 in business class. The airline is also using the A330 for flights to destinations in Europe, South Africa and Far East.
"Over the past 12 months, Singapore-based companies have shown growing interest in exploring business opportunities in Qatar. The companies are interested in real estate, construction, environmental services, oil and gas supporting infrastructure, and transport and logistics," he said. Qatar Airways hopes these developments will help it gain a foothold with the launch of the new flights.
