You know, I never wanted to write this post. Those “xyz sucks” posts were beneath me, I had thought.
Well, I was wrong and Paypal can be an absolute pain in your butt sometimes.
Everyone and his dog accepts payments on the Net through Paypal. When it works, it works beautifully, and you tend to thank Gods of all religions then.
But when it does not, heaven or hell won’t be able to help you with it.
I have a Premier Paypal account. Even this, you can transfer only a total of about $ 500 from your account - I am almost at that limit. To transfer any further money, you need to get verified. Whether you have more money in your account already or not. Whether your credit card has a 100 times the credit limit or not.
The thing is, there is no guarantee that you can get verified. What you saw in the beginning of this post is what I got when I tried to get verified. Paypal cannot do anything with my credit card. Never mind that I can use my credit card abroad, never mind that I can purchase a home theater or pay the initial payment on a new car. Paypal can’t do anything with it, and I am stuck.
This would not matter - but there are web designers to be paid, directory submissions for new sites to be made, memberships to be renewed - all of which use Paypal and no one else.
So till I manage to figure a way out of this, I am a Net-pauper. Thank you, Paypal!
Have you got this thing sorted out? I face the same problem with paypal… I’m not able to get verified through my Mastercard. It is so frustrating..
Several mails. They tell me they can’t verify non-US addresses. That’s stupid - there are many in India with verified addresses.
I think basically there are these standard mails they have which they keep sending you.
For all I know, it is something else altogether.
