Well parseltongue is a whole different language, I dunno how parseltongue is meanted to be on book, a unique skill or just another language, like merpeople( remember dumbledore speaking to merpeople in 4th book).. Allthough if it is a different language and not a unique skill it should be learnable, but wizards who can speak parseltongue in harry potter serier are voldemort, voldemorts family and harry(dont remember any other need to do a little reading) and harry was not learning parseltongue and still could speak to snakes.. , and in 6th book dumbledore showed a memory where a ministy wizard visited riddles and the son of marvolo only spoke parseltongue, yet the ministry wizard did not understand it, so we can conclude that it is only a unique skill and yes really convenient

Idk if this is really a plot hole, but something in DH that threw me was that Ron was able to remember and imitate the Parseltongue sound to open up the Chamber of Secrets. Very convenient.

I don't think it's true that Dumbledore expected Harry to die. I think he expected harry to sacrifice himself, and that would 'make the difference' or something. But Dumbledore explains to Harry that Voldemort taking his blood bound Harry to him just like a Horcrux, and so Harry couldn't die while Voldemort was alive. So I don't think Dumbledore expected him to die.

I just finished DH and I came across a mistake. Don't know if it's been said already but I'll say it anyway.

It's already been established that defeating the owner of the Elder wand makes you the new master. Hence why Draco became the owner by disarming Dumbledore and Harry by disarming Draco. However at the end Harry claims he doesn't want the wand and plans, like Dumbledore, for it's 'power' to end with him. He asks Dumbledore if he dies a "natural death" will the wands power end with me. Dumbledore says yes and Harry leaves the wand in Dumbledore's tomb.

But surely this contradicts what has been established? Someone would just have to defeat Harry in a duel, take his phoenix wand, and they would be the new master of the elder wand. Harry dying a natural death has nothing to do with it.

The only plot hole that really stuck out to me was why Crouch-Moody used the Triwizard Cup as a portkey, when it would be easier to make a cool-looking telescope or something, invite Harry to his office, and suggest he check it out. My only explanations would be that a) Dumbledore, or the Ministry, can detect portkeys (in general or at Hogwarts) but can't tell where they go, and the Triwizard Cup was supposed to be a Portkey to the Judges' Tables or something, so it was a good disguise; or b) Voldemort, in his flair for the grandeur, decided it would be more impressive that way (after all, this is a guy who decided to put his soul in the Founder's Relics instead of just finding some rocks on a beach somewhere then chucking them into the ocean so they would be lost forever).

Horcruxes have to be destroyed in a way that they cannot be repaired by magic. If you shot "Avada Kedavra" at a cup, it might break, but "Reparo" would fix it, so it's still a Horcrux. So the objects, which could be repaired, needed to be destroyed with Fiendfyre or the Basilisk fang since you can't repair objects destroyed in those ways.

People and animals, though, are different, since you can't bring back the dead. Yeah, Neville killed Nagini with the sword, but really any weapon would have done it; it wasn't the venom on the sword, it was the fact it's a sword. And Avada Kedavra destroys a living Horcrux. That's why using an animal is foolish, and why Harry wasn't destroyed by the Basilisk fang-- if he DIED, the Horcrux would have been destroyed, but he survived and could be repaired. Phoenix tears don't fix objects hit by basilisk fangs.

Harry, at the time he was hit in the Forest, was the owner of the Wand, which was powerful and able to do extraordinary magic; it couldn't kill it's owner, but it could kill Voldemort's soul inside him. Maybe another wand would have just killed Harry, or not killed anything at all. The wand would also not torture him, hence Crucio failed; nor would it drop him hard enough to harm him.

Also-- Dumbledore meant for Harry to die, and then for someone else to kill Voldemort. He didn't think Harry would have the Wand and live, the plan was to have Harry destroy the Horcruxes, die either in the process or by Voldemort's hand, and then have Ron and Hermione finish destroying the Horcruxes and then have anyone kill Voldemort. Dumbledore didn't plan this out.

And they don't use guns because guns almost never instantly kill, regardless of what you see in the movies. You usually have hours before you bleed out, your heart stops, or your brain function dies. So it would be really easy to wave your wand and fix the hole before you died by a gun.
