A piece of advise for Dada. Bengal’scricket maharaja Sourav Ganguly has found a sympathizer, it seems.
In what seemed to be a joke, cricket legend Kapil Dev has advised former national skipper Ganguly to try his hand at long distance running. The advice came after Sourav seemed to have lost all opportunities to regain his place in the national squad.
Said Kapil Dev: "Sourav Ganguly should run the Delhi Half Marathon, which is scheduled for October 15. Kapil’s statement comes in the wake of circumstances which has made Ganguly’s chance of returning to Team India waned.
Kapil went on saying that the national team selectors had told Sourav at least a year ago that they had no place for him in the team, but apparently he thinks he has something left to give to the Indian cricket squad.
Adding that every player has a career span, Kapil Dev pointed out that Sourav Ganguly had contributed a lot to Indian cricket. Remembering with pride that Sourav’s feat of scoring more than 10,000 one-day runs, the legend said that everybody has to move on at some stage. “Some may talk about him in disparaging terms, but I have immense respect for what he has done for the team," Kapil added. Saying that highs and lows are part of every Indian cricketers career, he said fans can raise a cricketer on their shoulders one day and abuse you the next day. This is part of our culture."
And in a comment which every cricketer has
to learn from the cricket legend said that Sourav’s run outs occurred because he did not run.
In a lighter vein, he said, "here he will have to," hinting at the Delhi half Marathon.
Let's hope the fans of Sourav laugh
it off!
