BBC pulls off ‘raunchy’ Spice Girls video from daytime slots

The BBC Television has withdrawn the telecast of the Spice Girls band’s comeback music video from its pre-9 p.m. timeslots because of a “raunchy” scene.

The Daily Mirror tabloid of Britain has reported that the video – for the latest single for the Spice Girls’ Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) – will not be telecast on the BBC before 9 p.m. since the video has what was been described as “revealing shots.”

The “revealing shots” relate to ‘Posh Spice’ Victoria Beckham, 33, mother of three children, “straddling a chair in thigh-high leather boots and not much else” at one point in the video, according to Daily Mirror.

In the so-called raunchy scene, ‘Ginger Spice’ Geri Halliwell is being seen in a bra.

Victoria Beckham also appears at one stage in the music video in a satin Basque. In another, she is wearing just a black bra and knickers.

Spice Girls’ Headlines (Friendship Never Ends), the official song for charitable organization Children In Need, was released earlier in November 2007 digitally in Australia. The single video will be released physically in Australia on November 19, 2007.

The Spice Girls reunited seven years after they had parted, and four of them are now mothers.

Meanwhile, the British newspaper Daily Mail quoted an “insider” telling it that super-skinny Victoria Beckham has been told to eat more if she wants to carry on with the strenuous dance routines on the forthcoming Spice Girls reunion tour.

The Daily Mail added: “Victoria Beckham is terrified of putting on a single pound and has had to be talked into increasing her food intake. It would be very embarrassing for her if she collapses or gets ill because she's too weak.”

The newspaper quoted the source as saying that Victoria’s new weight-gain diet will consist of “small bowls of brown rice with steamed vegetables, beetroot and handfuls of nuts and seeds.”

Media reports also said that Victoria Beckham is set to make her acting debut on US television soon, appearing on the popular show Ugly Betty.
