Lindsay Lohan booked for DUI, drug possession

US-based actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested on charges of drunken driving and drug possession for the second time in a month, the police said. The arrest came after a bizarre car chase which occurred at around predawn. At the time of the incident, the actress wore an alcohol-monitoring bracelet from her last stint in rehabilitation.

Lindsay Lohan's new film, "I know who killed me" will open on the theatres on July 27, 2007. In this film, Lohan stars as a a stripper abducted by a sadistic killer. Lindsay Lohan already has a case registered against her on charges of drunken driving nearly two months ago.

The police said that the actress was taken into police custody in the coastal city of Santa Monica about 1:30 a.m. on July 24, 2007, and was later released on a bond of USD 25,000.

Hours after the incident, Lohan's lawyer issued a statement which said the actress had suffered a relapse and she was "presently receiving medical care." When the police encountered the actress, she was accompanied by two of her friends and they were riding in a sports utility vehicle.

Lohan was detained after failing a field sobriety test. Police said she later registered a blood-alcohol level of about 0.12 percent, well above the California limit of 0.08. Following the check, the actress was booked on charges of suspicious drunken driving. She was also booked on charges of cocaine possession, bringing a controlled substance into custody, and driving on a suspended license.

Just some days back, Lohan was in a small car crash and fled the scene immediately after the incident. At the time of the incident, the police said they found cocaine in the car. The crash in May 2007 led Lohan to check herself into a rehab center for the second time in a year. She left earlier this month after 45 days and was wearing an alcohol-monitoring bracelet on a voluntary basis.

The celebrity, who is party-loving and has a troubled family history, has been at the centre of the gossip columns for more than a year.
