Rs 896 crore FDI proposals get nod

This includes Rs 500 crore worth of projects in realty by Solitaire Capital Investments, a Singapore company. According to reports, Solitaire is expected to accept contributions on repatriation basis into a venture capital fund for making these investments.

Another plan approved by the Finance Minister was that of Mauritius-based Bijlee Bharat Holdings to pump in Rs 307.94 crore. The company will set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Hyderabad for investing in multiple power plants.

Further, NSK Ltd of Japan would bring into the country an amount of Rs 41.25 crore for a joint venture in Chennai for making magnetic clutch bearings and ball bearings.

Other proposals that have been given the nod include Spain-based Lladro Commercials who will invest Rs 5.85 crore for raising its equity in Spa Agencies (India) from 26 per cent to 49 per cent, Sri Lanka-based Damro Exports Pvt Ltd who will invest money to sell furniture and Italian company Rino Greggio who will set up a joint venture for selling silverware.

UK-based Alpha Airport Group's proposal to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary for setting up duty-free shops, flight kitchens and food and beverage outlets at airports in the country at an investment of Rs 22.5 crores was also given the nod. The Netherlands-based Diageo Highlands Holdings plan to set up a joint venture for manufacturing liquor also was approved.

Aircel Cellular Ltd and Dishnet Wireless Ltd were also given the go ahead to accord conformity approval to the acquisition of 73.99 per cent stake by Mauritius-based Global Communications Service Holdings, which is owned by Malaysian telecommunications company Maxis.

Bermuda's Mandarin Oriental Ltd's plans for a wholly-owned arm to provide consultancy services in hotel and tourism sector and Dutch firm Reed Elsevier Overseas’ proposal to set up a joint venture for publishing six magazines were the other FDI proposals given the green signal.
