Reviews of the SRK Don have just started popping up; the first review I saw using Google Blogsearch is by Karan, who shreds it to bits. I must say he has done a pretty comprehensive job of trashing it.
I am no Hindi movie buff; so unless really impressed or totally offended, prefer to stay away from movie reviews.
I am sure other reviews would soon be popping up all over the blogosphere. Update 1: Yes, Taran Adarsh's review is also online. He, too, says that the movie is disappointing and the new Don suffers from a weak script. Update 2: Rajeev Masand gives it 1 out of 5. Interesting point: He says Shah Rukh Khan plays the role with a campy flavour; with mannerisms and flourish that doesn't really work for him. His review of Don: the Chase... is here.
Interesting thing, Rediff's reviews too seem to indicate that new Don: The Chase Begins Again is a disappointment. Is it because there is an unwillingness to tamper with a classic? I think there are many original Don fans who wouldn't want to see the new Don because the character and the movie are too dear to them, they can't tolerate anyone screwing it up (in their view). Or is the movie truly a disappointment? The next few days should tell.
Meanwhile here is Karan and here is his review of Don: The Chase Begins Again.
Personally, I would say you should watch the movie anyway to see how it has turned out. That way you get to crib that it's not really good, and Farhan Akhtar and SRK make their money too. A nice non-zero sum game there.
Meanwhile, here is the trailer.
