Dada makes a comeback
The Bengal tiger’s comeback run is getting better. Saurav Ganguly’s hopes reached a climax after he was recalled on Friday to the national squad. The fact that the recall comes after more than a year has given the former skipper much reason to rejoice.

Saurav Ganguly has been picked for the first two matches of a four-game home series against West Indies starting on January 21. He has also been included in the list of 30 World Cup probables.

This tremendous comeback comes after the selectors booted him out as skipper and one-day player in October 2005. The decision had come in the wake of poor batting performance and a much written about spat with coach Greg Chappell. The axe from the test side came in the beginning of 2006.

Recently, Ganguly made the best out of his Test recall by emerging the highest run-getter for India in the series against South Africa. His batting was one of the encouraging factors even as India went down 2-1 against the hosts. He had amassed a total of 214 runs in the Test series.

Interestingly, Ganguly is one of the only five batsmen to score more than 10,000 one-day runs. Now with a recall to the one-day squad, Dada can look forward to cement his place in the national team. With past records saying that his one-day performances for India had been very good, Saurav and India can look for more fireworks on the field. Fans just hope he keeps his off-the-field fireworks under control.
