Whats the biggest automobile story of 2 Feb 2005? It seems to be the launch fo the Toyota Innova in India. Toyota Kirloskar has just withdrawn the Qualis from the market according to all major newspapers and Reuters today, and they all say that the Toyota Innova launch can be expected any moment now. We are waiting too. At DWS, we have already carried two stories on the Toyota Innova, the first one Toyota Innova launch in India here and the second one Farewell Toyota Qualis, welcome Toyota Innova here.

I found the Reuters story a little funny though. It says that the MPV will batttle it out against the just released Ford Fusion. Fusion vs Innova? Unlikely in my opinion. For all its mild SUV / MPV looks and qualities, the Fusion is still a normal hatchback car, a good one. The Toyota Innova on the other hand is a full fledged people carrier for 2005, to be launched in several counties (India, Indonesia and Malaysia?) and will battle it out with the Chevrolet Tavera most probably in the Indian market. We had the first cover story on Narain!

Haha. We did it.. again? DWS was the only one to have Narain Karthikeyan on its front page, as lead story yesterday.

The story was written quite hastily, yes. Could we do justice to the first Indian driver ever in Formula One? No. But we shall make up for it, and will keep updating the Narain Karthikeyan story with all the updates. As far as we know, the Jordan team has not made an official announcement as of 2 Feb 2005. We will be waiting for that.

Narain Karthikeyan makes it into Formula One!

Narain has been at it doggedly for years, and finally he has done it.
