Mumbai
The police says the Mumbai blasts of August 25 have been
solved. The arrested do not seem to have any remorse, media says
in mock surprise.
No one is surprised, least of all the media.
I have asked this question to several colleagues and friends
in the aftermath of the riots: What would you do if your near
and dear have been burnt, killed or raped during a riot? Would
you not burn in anger, and wouldn't your mission in life becomes
revenge?

The general answer, whichever religion the person I asked
belonged to, was always 'yes'.
Now kindly do not pounce on me and ask me, 'Why don't you
feel the same way about the Godhra terror too?' In deference to
the 2002-2003 requirements for being considered a patriotic
citizen of this country by speaking out 'loudly enough', I
declare that this is too for Godhra too. Perhaps I should format
that sentence in Bold.
This is the logic of hate and retribution, ad we are seeing
it in live action right now. Watch carefully, few people get to
see in their lifetimes how communal disharmony slowly turns into
terror and civil war.
Perhaps when we are all disassembled by ball bearings in the
next blast, we could all sit and discuss how we could do nothing
to stop the coming civil war.
How wronged Hindus and Muslims tried to exact revenge, which
led to its own revenge and so on till one day someone or the
other did something so horrible in revenge. that civil war broke
out in India. Perhaps then, we could still continue justifying
actions and reactions.
