The regional airline Windward Island Airways, commonly called Winair, has revised its summer-service schedule for Antigua and Montserrat.

The airline has also announced carnival rates for flights to Saba in the Caribbean and St Eustatius in the Netherlands Antilles.

The changed flight schedule includes a minimum of three daily, direct flights from VC Bird International Airport in Antigua, the West Indies, to John A Osborne Airport in the Caribbean island of Montserrat in July and August 2009.

Winair, a government-owned airline based in the Netherlands Antilles, said in a statement that it would add a fourth flight to the summer-flight schedule in order to accommodate passengers on dates of high demand.

Apart from this, Winair said its contract, which was initially scheduled to expire on September 30, 2009, has been extended up to 2010.

The Montserrat Tourist Board said in a press release that Winair, being the scheduled provider of air service to Montserrat, is a vital part of the Caribbean island’s tourism sector.

Meanwhile, Winair has announced a special carnival rate for flights to Saba, the small island in the Caribbean, and to St Eustatius in the Netherlands Antilles.

The reduced fare to Saba is US $99 and to St Eustatius is US $100. These fares are available from July 20, 2009, through August 5, 2009.

The promotional fares include governmental tax, surcharges and airport tax, but not the taxes applicable for Saba and St Eustatius.

Passengers can pay these taxes directly to the airport in the respective islands, according to Winair.

A number of hotels and guests houses, the statement from Winair added, have been included in the special carnival package.
