Ukraine International Airlines, the flag-carrier airline of Ukraine, headquartered in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, has raised the number of flights between Kiev and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 3 flights a week to 5 flights a week.
It was in September 2009 that Ukraine International Airlines launched the service on the Kiev-Abu Dhabi route.
Ukraine International Airlines uses Boeing 737 aircraft, with business-class and economy-class, on the Kiev-Abu Dhabi route.
Ukraine International Airlines’ flights leave Abu Dhabi for Kiev 3 times a week at 1.55 a.m., and 2 times a week at 9.15 a.m.
The flight time between Kiev and Abu Dhabi is about five and a half hours, each way.
The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said in a statement that Ukraine International Airlines enhanced the number of services between Kiev and Abu Dhabi because of higher demand for travel (thanks mainly to tourism), increased bilateral trade between Ukraine and Abu Dhabi, as also the code-share pact with Eithad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates.
According to Yuri Miroshnikov, president of Ukraine International Airlines, Abu Dhabi Airports Company and Ukraine International Airlines had done “a lot of analysis and work” before increasing the number of flights on the Kiev-Abu Dhabi route.
Ahmed Al Haddabi, senior vice-president (airport operations) of the Abu Dhabi Airports Company, described, in a statement, that that entry of Ukraine International Airlines into the United Arab Emirates has been an “exemplary success” as has been demonstrated by the airline’s hiking its frequency just a few months after it launched the service.
Ukraine International Airlines is 61.6% owned by the State Property Fund, of Ukraine, with the rest being owned by Austrian Airlines, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and AerCap Holdings.
Ukraine International Airlines, the biggest airline based in Ukraine, operates scheduled domestic as well as international passenger and cargo services mainly to destinations in western Europe.
