With an eye to entice Indian travelers to European destination for enhance connectivity for their travel; Turkish Airlines is planning to increase their flights from India. Reports say that the carrier will be focusing on South Indian destinations first. This move would link travelers from India to almost ninety three cities across the European area, say sources at Turkish Airlines.
Officials at the airline say that the carrier is in the process of exploring their options and that currently talks are on with civil aviation authorities to connect the capital of Turkey, Istanbul with Indian airports at Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai.
The increase in connectivity that can be availed by Indian passengers if these moves are successful will be through cities like Germany, France, UK and Russia, which are hubs that Turkish airlines regularly services. Turkish Airlines also operates frequently to locations in the Middle East and Africa, which will be other locations that Indian passengers will be able to access through the carrier.
According to tourism industry officials, since more than half of the tourists who visit Europe and Russia do so via the Istanbul airport, these services linking India and Istanbul have a very good chance of enjoying a high demand, especially among tourists. As of now, the carrier operates seven flights from the Indian cities of Mumbai and Delhi; four flying out of Delhi and three from Mumbai airport. Their rights of fourteen flights a week have been taken up by these return flights. According to this latest expansion news, they will probably be seeking permission for more flights.
Apart from this focus on India, the carrier is expanding globally – a recent addition change to its schedule was a recommencement of flights between Istanbul and Moscow (four flights a week). The carrier also started four nonstop flights from Istanbul to Washington D.C.

In all a total of 165 airports are being served by the carrier including its destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Turkish Airlines is the third largest airline in Europe and the largest airline in Southern Europe. It has been a member of the Star Alliance network since April 2008.
