Delta Air Lines, based in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States, and Virgin Blue, based in Brisbane, Australia, are planning a joint venture in an effort to increase the reach of both airlines between the United States, Australia, and the South Pacific.

  Virgin Blue, the low-cost airline based in Australia, has announced what it calls a “collection of new product enhancements that are aimed at enhancing its appeal with the business market.”  

Virgin Blue, the low-cost airline based in Australia, is on a collision course with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the international industry trade group of airlines.

Soaring fuel bills have forced Australian airline Virgin Blue, owned by Richard Branson, to ground two more aircraft. A three per cent reduction in route capacity has brought overall cuts by the airline to 12 per cent since last month.

Virgin Blue, the low-cost airline of Australia, is considering charging passengers for checking in their baggage as a part of its bid to cope with high fuel costs.
