Southwest Airlines, American Airlines to make flight schedule changes at Nashville Airport

Southwest Airlines and American Airlines, both based in the United States, have announced seasonal changes – including reductions and additions – at Nashville International Airport in Tennessee, the United States. Southwest Airlines, the low-cost carrier based in Dallas, Texas, the United States, said in a statement that it would do away with 3 flights from November 1, 2009, through January 8, 2010.

Southwest Airlines will make the following changes at Nashville International Airport:

From November 1, 2009, through January 8, 2010, the airline will add one flight to New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana, to it existing 2 flights.

From November 1, 2009, through January 8, 2010, Southwest Airlines will cut 1 flight to each of the following destinations:

  1. Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) – from 4 flights to 3 flights
  2. Kansas City International Airport (KCI) – from 4 flights to 3 flights
  3. Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – from 3 flights to 2 flights.

However, Southwest Airlines said it would still offer services to all these destinations through connecting flights via Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Seattle Airport.

American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas, the United States, also has made changes in schedule at Nashville International Airport.

With effect from August 25, 2009, American Airlines will raise the number of flights from Nashville Airport to LaGuardia Airport in New York (LGA) to 4 flights from 3 flights.

Of these, 2 flights are on American Airlines and 2 flights on American Eagle Airlines.

In all, 13 airlines fly out of Nashville International Airport, with over 370 daily arrivals and departures daily.
