Quantas has launched A380 Sydney-London flights from January 16, 2008.
The A380 aircraft is the third in Qantas’ fleet of A380s and was delivered to Qantas on December 27, 2008.

Qantas’ A380 will be used for the new flights from Sydney-London Heathrow via Singapore thrice a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and return services on the following days. The A380 will also be used for select Singapore-Heathrow flights, on the same days, starting January 16, 2009.

With the new A380 Syndney-London Heathrow flight, Qantas will now operate 28 weekly return flights between the UK and Australia.

Earlier this week, Qantas became the first airline to use the A380 on a commercial flight to San Francisco.

In 2008, Qantas had launched A380s on Melbourne-Los Angeles flights, which, the airline claims, generated extremely positive feedback.

Qantas plans to add three more A380s to its existing fleet of A380s in 2009.

Qantas has configured its A380s with 450 seats: 14 First Suites, 72 Business class, 32 Premium Economy class, and 332 Economy seats.

Qantas has said that the A380s will come with benefits for all four classes of the plane. The Business class will have a lounge area and a fully-flat Skybed. Premium Economy will have extra wide Recaro seats, and Economy seats with have self-service refreshment bars and an on-demand entertainment system.

Meanwhile, Qantas has reduced its promotional fares, in the Airline’s annual January sales, further.

The economy return-trip fares on Qantas flights from 8 Singapore destinations will be slashed.
