Madurai-based Paramount Airlines has announced that it will start another daily service between Chennai and Kolkata to cater to business executives from eastern and southern India.Paramount Airways managing director M Thiagarajan said that Paramount Airways was expanding its services in less than a month starting its maiden flight to Kolkata.
The Chennai-Kolkata flight was offer connections to Coimbatore Madurai, Hyderabad, Cochin, Pune, Ahmedabad and Goa.
The airline also plans to start services to Coochbehar, Varanasi, and Ranchi.
Thiagarajan further talked about the progress of the airlines, “When some of our peers are busy launching low-cost budget airlines, we launched our premium flights and have done reasonably well.”
He said that Paramount’s new routes would focus on business travelers and high-end tourists.
He also clarified that it was yet to be decided whether the Airbus 350 or Boeing 787 will be used for its international operations. The technical committee will soon be finalizing on the aircraft to be used for the international operations.
“To begin with, we will operate flights to South-East Asia and Gulf region.” Thiagarajan said on the airlines international operations.
“Then, the service will be extended to Europe and the US. We are closely evaluating A330s and A350s from Airbus, as well as the 777s and 787s from Boeing. We should be able to arrive at a decision and sign the deal by June-July,” he further added.
Both, Boeing 787 and Airbus will cost the airlines a gargantuan $80-90 million.
The airline plans to add 15 more Embraer 170/190 series jets for its domestic operations.
Paramount Airlines aims to expand its services over the next three to five years with an investment of $1.3 million.
