Peter Lawlor, Malaysia’s Tourism Minister, said the new non-stop flights, twice a week, will add to the existing 5 flights a week between Kuala Lumpur and Brisbane via Sydney.
The new Lumpur-Brisbane flights via Sydney will operate on Fridays and Sundays.
The two Malaysia Airlines flights will take off from Kuala Lumpur at 9 a.m. and land in Brisbane at 6.55 p.m. on the same day. In the return direction, the flight will depart from Brisbane at 11.20 p.m. and reach Kuala Lumpur at 5.45 a.m. the next day.

In a statement, Abdul Manaf Harun, Malaysia Airlines’ regional manager for Australia, New Zealand and South-west Pacific, said the 2 additional flights between Kuala Lumpur and Brisbane have been reinstated in response to the feedback the airline got from its customers.
He added that Malaysia Airlines provides comfort, “convenience and seamless travel” which passengers on long-haul flights very much want.
The new Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane flights on Fridays, according to Abdul Manaf Harun, are certain to appeal to Malaysia’s leisure travellers since they would not only be able to “maximise their holiday time” but also start their holiday at the start of the weekend.
In addition, the passengers from Kuala Lumpur to Brisbane are assured of easy train connectivity to the Gold Coast, in Queensland, Australia, since the flights will land in Brisbane at 6.55 p.m.
The Australian travellers returning home from Malaysia will like arriving in Brisbane early evening on Sunday (at 6.55 p.m.), which will give them time enough to rest before returning to the office on Monday, Abdul Manaf Harun said.
He said Kuala Lumpur is a key hub for travellers bound for Europe, the United Kingdom and India, and that the additional Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane services “will be great news” for tourists visiting Brisbane and destinations in Queensland.
The new services will add as many as 564 seats each week to Queensland, in addition to the 705 seats provided via Sydney at present.
