India’s premier international airline, Jet Airways, plans to start operations between Dubai and Hyderabad. Jet Airways will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the Dubai-Hyderabad operations.
Flight 9W 550 will take off from Hyderabad at 0840 hrs and land in Dubai at 1100 hrs. The flight will then depart from Dubai at 1220 hrs and arrive in Hyderabad at 1200 hrs.
The operations will start from August 16, 2009 to October 24, 2009, and from March 28, 2010 to October 30, 2010.
Jet Airways’ CEO, Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer explained the need for the services to the Gulf countries, “With the growing popularity of Dubai as a leading business and leisure destination, there has been an increasing demand for enhanced air connectivity to the Gulf emirate from Southern India,” he said.
“We are confident that the new service from Hyderabad will be well-appreciated by travellers and will complement our existing services from India,” he further added.
In addition to the Hyderabad-Dubai services, Jet Airways has also started services from Mumbai to Jeddah. The airline has also started a second daily flight in the Mumbai- Bangkok sector.
With the launch of the Dubai-Hyderabad services, Jet Airways will operate flights to seven destinations in the Gulf. Flights would be operated between various Indian cities to Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah and Dubai.
“We are operating a hub and spoke model out of Mumbai and Delhi for better utilization of our fleet and to provide instant connectivity” said Raj Sivakumar, vice president (revenue management), Jet Airways.
Kingfisher Airlines too is on its way to start services between Indian cities and Gulf countries. Kingfisher would be flying from Mumbai and Delhi to Singapore, Honk Kong and Bangkok.
“The plan to launch these new services is consistent with our goal of redeploying capacity on routes with better yields as compared to domestic sectors,” said a Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson.
