Jet Airways, based in Mumbai, India, is launching daily, direct flights between Mumbai and Riyadh, the administrative and commercial capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), from October 25, 2009.At present, Jet Airways operates daily flights between Mumbai and the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Jet Airways Flight 9W 524 will take off from Mumbai at 7.30 p.m. and land in Riyadh at 9.15 p.m. In the return direction, Flight 9W 523 will leave Riyadh at 10.15 p.m. and reach Mumbai at 4.20 a.m.
The airline will operate the new Mumbai-Riyadh daily flights with a state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800 plane, according to Nikos K Kardassis, chief executive officer of Jet Airways.
This is the second major expansion of Jet Airways on the India-Saudi Arabia sector.
In a press release, Fareed Al Alawi, vice-president (Gulf and Middle East) of Jet Airways (India), said that the introduction of the daily flights between Mumbai and Riyadh will help strengthen further the carrier’s Gulf network and will provide the passengers with better seamless connectivity in the India-Gulf sector.
At present, Jet Airways flies daily to the Middle East destinations of Bahrain, Kuwait, Doha, Muscat, Sharjah, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai from different cities in India.
With a fleet of 87 aircraft – including 10 Boeing 777-300 ERs planes – Jet Airways at present operates over 370 flights daily, to a total of 63 destinations within India and abroad.
Besides the cities in the Middle East, the carrier’s overseas destinations include London (Heathrow Airport), New York (both John F Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport), Brussels, Toronto, Singapore, Hong Kong, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka, Katmandu, and Bangkok.
