Jet Airways has signed a code-share agreement with Belgium’s Brussels Airlines.

Jet Airways will now be flying its passengers to the European cities of Marseilles, Toulouse, Geneva and Vienna thus increasing its international connectivity.

In addition to this, Jet Airways will operate six weekly flights on the Brussels- Lyon sector now.

With this move, the airline hopes to improve the connectivity between Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.

The code-share agreement will also provide connectivity to 12 destinations, Birmingham, Barcelona, Lyons, Madrid, Berlin, Paris, Manchester, Hamburg, Marseilles, Toulouse, Geneva and Vienna.

Jet Airways CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said, “Besides widening Jet Airways’ presence in the European market, the code-share agreement with Brussels Airlines has enabled both airlines to leverage each other network strengths and service quality to significantly boost air travel on the Indo- European sector.”

Currently, Jet Airways operates daily flights to Brussels from Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

Belgium-based companies have 70 per cent stake in Brussels Airlines, while the remaining 30 percent is held by Virgin Express.

Earlier, under its restructuring plans, Jet Airways had stopped its Mumbai-Shanghai-San Fransisco service, but with this move Jet Airways aims to target the world market and expand its reach.

A code-sharing agreement is an agreement wherein two or more flights agree to sell seats on the same flight.

Under this aviation-business agreement, Air Malta collaborated with Alitalia on flights between Catania and Malta for the first time in 1970.
